Here they are! The Be All and End All of MacGregor Classic Woods - The Ben Hogan 693 Oil Hardened MacGregor Tourneys. And are these ever good!

All of the woods have their original cord grips, sole plates, and red fiber inserts. The True Temper Dynamic shafts are original. The neck whipping is original and the original Ben Hogan stamps are original, still clear and visible on all the heads. None of the writing has been re-engraved. Neck numbers are still faintly visible on the 2 wood. The driver is 43-inches long and sets up well.  None of the faces have been touched (as in repaired, refaced, pushed back, etc). No cracks or weathering. The only notable flaw is the driver has a ½” hairline crack on the back of the neck.  Such cracks are often found on MacGregor clubs. As you can see, the original whipping on these clubs.

MacGregor’s Tommy Armour 693 woods were produced for four years, between 1949 and 1952.  Nicklaus actually used a 693 driver during part of his career as well as a 693 3-wood.

Question: When was the last time a set of these came up at auction? Answer: Never.
