Macgregor Tommy Armour Oil Hardened 945 combined set that consists of a 1, 3, and 4 wood. Driver is 945TW with neck numbers and chord grip. The 3 and 4 wood are 945W with neck numbers and leather wrap grips. 43" driver. This set is in close to perfect original condition.

In 1963, MacGregor changed their Tommy Armour 693 model woods to Tommy Armour 945, but this was a change in name only. The TA 945 kept the exact same head shape and features. Collectors during the 1980s valued the 945s at the same level as they did the 693s. These head shapes, known as the model 69 heads, are timeless classics and represent the highpoint of not just MacGregor clubmaking, but of clubmaking in general during the mid 20th century.

MacGregor Tommy Armour 945s were sought out. To many PGA Tour pros between 1960 and the late 1980s, MacGregor 945s, 693s, and M85s from the 1950s were as good as it got, better than the new clubs introduced between 1960 and the late 1980s. The pros especially liked using the 693, 945 and M85 drivers even when under contract to endorse other brands.

Classic McGregor Oil Hardened persimmon woods will always hold a place in the history of clubmaking as some of the best equipment ever produced.
