Most people interest in classic golf clubs know Ben Hogan clubs have some serious appeal-especially 50's and 60's era examples, not to mention some of the numbered limited edition sets made a few decades later. What many do not know is Hogan was originally a MacGregor "staffer" as a touring and club pro-yes, Ben was a club pro when he wasn't traveling. Offered here is likely one of the earliest sets of Hogan MacGregor woods, a pre-WWII set of "Bap" woods with unusual criss-cross scoring and solid wood head-no inserts! The "Bap" name comes from the bap biscuit which is somewhat like these heads-compared to more modern 50's era persimmons these are slightly lower profile heads and rounded downward at the perimeter of the head.
Appear to have been sympathetically refinished perhaps with just a light respray and have the original shafts and perhaps early rubber grips as well. The driver is 40" which indicates this was likely a junior set.
