Printed in 1894. this is the September 21, 1893 Patent Application for "Improvement in Golf Clubs" taken out by Tom Morris.  The patent application begins "I, Tom Morris, Golf Club and Ball Manufacturer, St Andrews...hereby declare the nature of this invention to be as follows: The invention relates to an improved iron niblick...."

Most of the irons Morris sold were traditional in nature. However. he devised three different metal head patent clubs: a dish face niblick, an oval face cleek, and a cylinder head putter. Because Tom Morris has no superiors in the history of golf, any patent club bearing his name is an excellent collectible—such clubs are very difficult to find.

Morris was issued British patent No. 17,753 dated September 21, 1893, to cover his concave face niblick. See The Clubmakers Art 2nd Ed v1p282 to view the actual club and read more about it and his patent.
