Offered here is an early, Scotty Cameron "Scott" Cameron handmade 8802/Napa style putter.
Vog says: Scotty has estimated he made maybe 600 handmade putters early in his career, and has likely made the last of his true made by hand putters-at least anything he'll make for the collector's market. These putters were crafted initially on a Bridgeport mill (not a CNC-milling machine) from a billet of carbon steel, and relied on Scotty spending hours of shaping, grinding, etc. 25 years ago, Scotty shared with me this head style-inspired by the classic Wilson 8802 blade, was the toughest for him to get just right. As a result, he just didn't make many that ever left his workshop. I've seen fewer than 15 in 32 years of collecting. When I saw this in April at the Golden Age headquarters, I about lost it. I'm not sure I've seen a Scott Cameron Napa handmade like this with this high toe and a low slung topline leading into the neck. At first glance, I thought it might have been crafted from a raw CNC 1995 Napa head-but it's different enough including the very high toe-that tells me Scotty made this head from scratch. The neck is also markedly different than the production Napa. Finally, the fact this one is not stamped Titleist provides a hint of when it was made, prior to 1995.
There are very fine mill marks on the face and the putter appears to be all original. As it has a near mint Neumann Cameron leather grip I think it has not been restored. Until I see another Napa handmade, this is the best 8802/Napa style handmade I've seen. It's certainly the coolest.
Condition is 9+ out of 10, with leather Neumann Scott Cameron grip, Green Milled Putters headcover, 35 1/4 inches long.
