Offered here is a very rare and unusual Scotty Cameron "Scott" Cameron putter.
Vog says: Any time you see a putter marked "Scott Cameron" it's likely 30 or more years old and was made totally by hand by Scotty, crafting the head using a Bridgeport vertical milling machine. In one of Scotty's early brochures he stated that he might spend as much as 20 hours crafting one of these. Scott Cameron handmade putters are a BIG part of my collection; just don't ask me how many I have! I especially like this one. Look at the milling on the face-it's a style that I just haven't seen on handmades Scotty made after 1993 and this putter may be earlier than that. He made multiple passes across the face with a smaller bit-it's almost like layers of mill marks. I have 3 or 4 in my collection like this, and I can tell you I haven't seen more than 3 others like this one. Notice the finish-it's really glossy. Most of the times when you see a handmade this glossy, chances are it has been restored. Yet these milling marks are unique to that early 90's time period and have not been redone. Simply polishing the head and not-remilling would leave the milling marks barely intact. My best guess is this was made for a VIP/friend of Scotty's. Tour players typically liked a finish with less glare-and they were less work as well. This required extra time polishing. If Scotty was making a putter for a special person who was not a tour player, he was more likely to spend the extra time polishing to a mirror finish before applying the black oxide finish. The other thing I really like is it has an original near mint leather Scott Cameron Neumann leather wrap grip. He only started ordering these personalized grips probably late in 1991, and when he signed with Titleist that was it-he used whatever stock he had.
Collectors bonus: As a collector, I'll pay an extra $750-$1,000 just for a handmade with this grip. If you're a handmade collector or you're thinking of buying your first, one like this is worthy of consideration.
Length is 34.5", condition is 9 to 9.5 out of 10, near mint with only minor signs on the sole of past carpet putting. Titleist black flag headcover.
