1933 U.S. Open Contestant Badge
Presented here is an actual contestant's badge from the 1933 U.S. Open. One
badge is made for every participant at each year's US Open - a practice that is
still continued to this day. Not only is this one of the few 1933 contestant's
badges around, surely there is not a finer example in existence. The badge is
not only in great condition, but amazingly, it still contains its original
celluloid tag denoting that it was issued to player number 132.
The 1933 U.S. Open is frequently cited as the last U.S. Open
that was won by an amateur, when Johnny Goodman took home the victory at North
Shore Country Club in Illinois.
