Max Faulkner's 1963 Open Championship Contestant's Badge

        The year 1963 saw the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews debut a new design for contestants in the Open Championship. At the 1963 Open at Royal Lytham & St. Anne's, 1951 Open Champion Max Faulkner wore this badge-a round disc with blue and silver enamel encircling the R & A crest. In fine condition from nearly 50 years ago. Provenance: Sotheby's, St Andrews, July 1995, at the sale of Max Faulkner's estate.
