1930 Bobby Jones

British Amateur Wire Photo

(Grand Slam)

As you've no doubt seen by now, this Winter Golf Auction by Green Jacket Auctions represents one of the greatest sales of golf photographs in history. From Old Tom Morris & the origins of professional golf to Bobby Jones & the founding of Augusta National, many of the offered photographs are among the finest such examples in the hobby.

Offered here is an original 8"x10" photograph of Bobby Jones at the trophy presentation ceremony following his victory at the 1930 Open Championship. In this photo, Jones can be seen giving a speech with the Claret Jug next to him.

Photos of Bobby Jones (especially with his trophies!) from his Grand Slam year in 1930 are among the most coveted Bobby Jones photos in existence.

This photo is a double weight British Studio Photograph (from Planet News Ltd, London) and is the only example we have ever seen.

Photograph has one crease on the lower left side and some light handling wear. Reverse has full paper caption and stamps from Planet News and NEA.
