1941 Sam Snead

Masters Tournament Wire Photo

As you've no doubt seen by now, this Winter Golf Auction by Green Jacket Auctions represents one of the greatest sales of golf photographs in history. From Old Tom Morris & the origins of professional golf to Bobby Jones & the founding of Augusta National, many of the offered photographs are among the finest such examples in the hobby.

This original 1941 photograph depicts Sam Snead teeing off in the first round of the 1941 Masters Tournament. This early photograph actually pre-dates Snead's 1st Major victory, which didn't come until over a year later at the 1942 PGA Championship. Nevertheless, we know by the photo's caption that the young golf prodigy was already known as Slammin' Sam Snead.

7"x9" photo is in very nice condition, and grades a 9.5/10.

Reverse has full paper caption and stamps from Acme and NEA.
