Offered here is Arthur Weaver's actual “first impression” sketch of famed Seminole Golf Club. Arthur Weaver (1918-2008), who is perhaps the most famous modern golf artist, did not paint from viewing a photograph. Instead, he actually went out, picked his spot on the golf course, and literally sat there and created a "first impression" sketch. He would use this rough sketch as the template for his later painting and/or prints of the subject.

This first impression watercolor painting/sketch of Seminole Golf Club was never sold by Weaver. He used it to create a limited edition print of Seminole (showing the 9th hole approach with the clubhouse in the background). 375 prints were made exclusively for Seminole to give to its members. This is the original sketch for those rare prints.  Like almost all of his original sketches, this remained in Weaver's archives until his death. This painting was acquired from Arthur Weaver's widow, and has never been publicly offered for sale. Matted to an overall size of 14"X16". Image is 8"X11.5".
