For this auction, we found an impressive cache of rare Bobby Jones photographs. During a consignment run up the East Coast, tucked away in a basement in Atlanta, were some Bobby Jones photographs that we've never seen before.

Offered here is a scarce swing photograph (with cigarette in mouth!) of Bobby Jones at Augusta National Golf Club on January 17, 1933. What's significant about that? Augusta National's course opened on January 13! Yes, this photo depicts Jones playing Augusta National on the 5th day it was open, and a full 14 months before the inaugural Masters Tournament was held. How did Jones play? Well, the then-retired golfer matched the course record of 69!
