Lot Description  

This is only the second time we've even encountered this scarce program. This is an original program from the 1928 Walker Cup, which was held at Chicago Golf Club. This one is in far superior condition than the other which sold in our 2014 Winter auction for $4,105.  Bobby Jones was famously Playing Captain for the first time at the 1928 Walker Cup (he would only do it one more time in 1930). The team featured not only Bobby Jones, but also Francis Ouimet, Chick Evans, George Von Elm, Harrison Johnston, Watts Gunn, and Jess Sweetser.

The 1928 American Walker Cup team is widely regarded as one of the greatest golf teams ever assembled, and they defeated their British counterparts by a score of 11 to 1.
