Offered here is a scarce original handwritten letter from Leslie Balfour-Melville. Balfour-Melville was one of Scotland's great sportsmen, but his greatest golf triumph was winning the 1895 British Amateur at St Andrews. His autographs are scarce, as he passed away in 1937.

This original 1907 letter from Leslie Balfour-Melville was found in the archives of the now-defunct Golfing magazine based in London. In this letter, Balfour-Melville replies to the magazine editor's request that he provide a list of golf clubs necessary to form a "complete outfit".  This letter comes from the personal collection of noted golf historian Mark Emerson.
