Offered here is Sir Henry Cotton's 1938 German Open winner's medal. The 1938 tournament was held at Frankfurter Golf Club in Germany. This 1 3/4" heavy bronze medal reads:

Reads: FRONT: deutscher golf verband im drl  (German Golf Association in DRL)

            BACK: herrenmeisterschaft von deutschland (Men's Championship of Germany), 1938 Frankfurt

Comes in original cloth covered and velvet lined box marked H. Meyen & Co. Silverwarentabrik Berlin S

Provenance: This medal was sold with Sir Henry Cotton's golf collection, including his Open Championship gold medals and Claret Jug, in the July 1996 Sotheby's London Auction of "The Sir Henry Cotton Golfing Library."
