Offered here is one of the Crown Jewels of the classic golf club market - a rare circa 1959 Ping Karsten Redwood City Model "II" putter. The legend has been told countless times - in his spare time, Karsten Solheim began making putters in his garage in Redwood City, California in 1959. Then in 1960, Karsten moved to Scottsdale, Arizona and focused his attention on being a clubmaker. Soon thereafter, the PING golf company was born.
The Model 2 Redwood City putter was similar to the iconic Model 1A, but with a heel shaft and a torsion sole that connected only to the toe (not the heel). The putter has its original shaft bend, which was done by Karsten by hand. It also has the original green Golf Pride "Informer" grip. Very good condition.
