Offered here is a circa 1917 Cochrane's Brassie w/ Patent "Ray Marvo" three-piece compound shaft. According to The Clubmaker's Art, this club was made from three pieces of hickory laminated together. This club was endorsed by the longest driver of the era, Ted Ray.
This club originates from the famed Jeff Ellis Collection, and this exact club was featured in his books The Clubmaker's Art (TCA 1, p. 508; TCA 2, p. 640). This club has not reached the collector market since its sale at the 2007 Sotheby's auction of the Jeff Ellis Collection.
