This coveted early 2000s Tiger Woods backup putter has become the marquee modern golf collectible. There are only a handful of pieces of sports memorabilia that we can be relatively certain will be collected for centuries - Babe Ruth's bat; Muhammad Ali's gloves; Michael Jordan's shoes. When it comes to golf, there's one such item that we would add to the list above all others - Tiger Woods' red dot Scotty Cameron putter.

This is one of a few coveted "Tiger backups" that Scotty Cameron made for Tiger that managed to be make it to the collector community.

From Vog: "Scotty initially introduced the Newport II GSS to the PGA Tour in Spring of 1999. I was in San Diego with my family in March of 2012 and somehow managed to convince Scotty to have a quick lunch with me. I happened to have two Newport II GSS putters with me featuring the initials GN and DD on them. After lunch I showed them to Scotty and he said that he made the first 5 GSS Newport II's for Greg Norman, David Duval, Sergio Garcia, Mark O'Meara, and Tiger Woods, of course. Somehow I had managed to acquire the putters he had made for Norman and Duval. These were all players who liked the old, original stainless steel Ping Anser 2."

This GSS has most of the major features that Tiger's famous gamer has, which he has famously used to win 14 professional Majors. Vertical stamping on the face. Big red dots on the face and the cavity. The same small font metal stamps used to stamp "Tiger Woods" on the bumpers. A very thin top line (this is a key aspect of any true Tiger backup). A topline dot for alignment. A shallow face.
