This Wright & Ditson 50-inch fitting driver was designed to assist golfers in determining the correct length for a custom-ordered club. The shaft is marked in half-inch increments, similar to a yardstick. To use this club, right-handed golfers position the head at a comfortable distance from their hands when addressing the ball and then check the shaft measurement behind the heel of the left hand. This measurement indicates the overall length needed for a new club. If a golfer wanted to experience using a 46-inch shaft, for example, they could grip the club just below that point to get an accurate feel for the swing.
The shaft on this driver is marked in half-inch increments from 24 inches to 50 inches. The sole is stamped with "S-733." The entire club is in beautiful original condition. For more information on fitting clubs, see TCA2 v2 p684.
