Francis Fairlie received a British patent in 1891 that covered the anti-shank iron design used on this club.. This particular Fairlie's niblick is a fine example. It has a smooth face and smallish, diamond-back head. The back of the head is stamped "Geo Burrows, Hurts, Chorleywood." This gallant club would have been made after 1901, when Burrows began working at Chorleywood. The 36 1/2" shaft and sheepskin grip are original.
