Offered here is Rocco Mediate's actual Silver Medal from his Runner-Up finish in the 2008 US Open at Torrey Pines. Rocco Mediate's duel with Tiger Woods was the stuff of legend. Tied after 72 holes, most expected Tiger Woods to dominate Rocco Mediate over an 18 hole Playoff (the final 18 hole playoff in Major Championship history). Well, apparently no one told Rocco, as his fought Tiger Woods every step of the way until they were tied yet again after another 18 holes (90 total). It would take Tiger Woods yet another playoff hole until he narrowly edged Rocco Mediate on the 91st hole of the tournament.
If 2nd Place finishes are all too often seen as a failure in golf tournaments, not so for Rocco Mediate at the 2008 US Open. Rocco endeared himself to golf fans around the world that week, and became a household name in the process. Tiger Woods may have technically won the 2008 US Open, but in many ways Rocco Mediate won the week.
This is Rocco Mediate's original Silver Medal from that epic duel with Tiger Woods. A truly museum-worthy relic that is more important (and valuable) than most Major Championship Winner's gold medals. Obtained directly by Rocco Mediate himself.
