What an extraordinary find! Offered here is an original Press Badge from the 1938 Masters Tournament. Needles to say, items from the first few Masters Tournaments are truly scarce. A search of our auction records over the past 20 years will reveal ZERO spectator tickets to the 1938 Masters, a single Employee badge, and 2 Player Badges. And no Programs were produced for the 1938 Masters (only 1934 and 1935), so that's it. That's the full extent of artifacts that we've handled in 20 years related to the 1938 Masters Tournament.
The 1938 Masters Tournament was the 5th ever playing of The Masters. In fact, it's the very first that officially used "Masters' Tournament" (with an apostrophe!) as the name of the tournament - it was called The Augusta National Invitational Tournament in 1934-1937. Henry Picard won the 1938 Masters for his 1st Major.
Very good condition. The color and presentation of this badge is spectacular. This large Press Badge measures 5 5/8" total, and the button itself is 2 1/3" diameter. with a 3 1/8" ribbon still attached.
Overall 5 5/8". 2 1/2 diameter. Ribbon itself is 3 1/8".
