The Ryder Cup
1932 U.S. Amateur Contestant Badge
Very early Major Championship contestant's badges are virtually impossible to
come by. In this auction, we are very fortunate to offer pieces of a stunning
collection of these great pieces of memorabilia - some of which have never been
offered for sale to the public.
This very badge was issued to one of
the 150 or so golfers that participated in the 1932 US Amateur, which was won by
Ross "Sandy" Somerville at Baltimore Country Club. Since only about 150 of these
badges existed 78 years ago, surely only a handful still remain. And of the
handful that still exist, it's probably safe to say that this particular badge
must the finest example in existence.
