Pair of Masters Tournament Eagle Goblets
Most Masters Tournament collectors or patrons are aware of the Stubben crystal
given as awards for various achievements at the Masters Tournament. There are 4
such awards, this one being the crystal goblets awarded for recording an eagle
during the Masters Tournament. The other awards are for Double Eagle (has only
been awarded a couple times), Hole-In-One and for shooting the Low Round of each
day of the tournament. Since the crystal on display in the Trophy Room and on TV
each year does not contain an engraved name and year, most collectors do not
realize that the recipient's name, the date of the achievement, and the hole
where the Eagle was recorded are also etched onto the award. Many also do not
realize that a set of 2 crystal goblets are presented to each player scoring an
Eagle.
This amazing set of Stubben Crystal goblets are from the 1978 Masters Tournament. We believe that this is only the third time a piece of Masters Crystal has been offered publicly (See Lot #1 in our Summer 2007 Auction for the first, and Lot 6 in our Spring 2010 auction for the second). These beautiful pieces are in mint condition and were awarded to Mike Morley for his Eagle on Hole No. 2 during the 1978 Masters Tournament.
