Ben Hogan
Early Augusta National Golf Club Caddie
Badge #000
This very well may be the
greatest American caddie badge ever offered. This exceptional badge dates to the
early days of Augusta National Golf Club (probably the 1940's) and is in
near-mint condition! Early caddie badges of this style were extremely
condition-sensitive, which makes it so remarkable that this badge has survived
in such exceptional condition. We'd like to say that it was meticulously
preserved by a serious collector, but in truth it was discovered a couple years
ago at an estate sale in Atlanta in a box with dozens of salesman's samples of
random pins and buttons (some Augusta National related, but most not even golf
related). After reviewing the contents of that box, it is almost certain that
they once belonged to a saleman for the Bastian Bros. Badge and Pin Co. of
Rochester, NY. That historic find brought us the famous 1961 Masters Badge #000
from our 2011 Masters Auction, and now it brings us this early Augusta National
Caddie Badge #000. This rare badge is unrivaled, and will surely never be seen
again.
